An Emotional Rollercoaster

After a week of emotional turmoil because of the earthquake, tsunami and nuclear issues, we have been on the phone with Delta for some many hours we have lost count.  One minute we are going on our trip, the next we are canceling the trip.  This has happened at least 20-30 times a day for a week.  We have not been sleeping well and the unknown was driving both mom and myself a little bit crazy.  As of this morning, we were still planning on flying through Tokyo as we could not change our flight without it costing thousands of dollars.  Finally we found an absolutely terrific agent who was able to figure out some flights for us... for the 2 hours of the conversation, we were going to fly through Paris, then Bangkok and then into Taipei.  We got the confirmation email and got excited because we had a 7 hours layover in Paris and we could hang out!  (One of our favorite places in the world... well France really in general).  However, half an hour later, while still on the phone with Delta, they could not confirm the flight anymore because we do not have a "world" ticket... So back to the drawing board.  Eventually an hour later, they figured out how to get us to Taipei, finally avoiding Tokyo, and flying through Seoul (Incheon), Korea and onto Taipei.  So the trip is back on and we are going!!  WOOHOO!  And the emotional roller coaster, well it's still present as probably everyone gets nervous when about to embark on a month long trip to the Orient and a really, really long travel time- almost 40 hours!
