Dad is safe from Tsunami

At 2:30am MST, we received a phone call from mom informing us of the massive 8.9 earthquake that had just hit Japan.  As usual, mom was up in the middle of night with CNN blaring in the bedroom and she had just heard about the quake.  She also had heard that Taiwan was about to get hit by the tsunami in 40 minutes and she immediately called dad's Taiwanese cell phone.  He answered and was completely unaware of the quake and tsunami supposedly heading right towards him. He was still in his office at the Taipei Medical University Hospital and signed into skype and although he could hear mom, his microphone was not working but at least they communicated by writing.  He then wrote to mom to hold on (mom not having a clue why he wrote hold on) and there was no contact for several minutes. He returned to type that the entire staff was watching BBC but that they were not worried as no tsuami warning had gone off.  Mom stayed on skype with dad until after the tsunami warning was supposed to have hit Taiwan and as far as he knows, there was not much that happened and he is safe.  Three hours later, he left the hospital, took the shuttle and subway back to the dorm and went to sleep!  So our thoughts and prayers go out to all of those affected by the earthquake and the tsunami.
