The rest of Mexico!

Rather than bore you with details of how relaxing and wonderful my trip to Mexico was, i'll just post some photos from the rest of the trip. We did travel to Tulum for a day which was really neat and i'm glad we were able to do some sightseeing. I went a tad bit stir crazy, but I know now that I can handle an all inclusive resort! Though, my waist may not like it too much.  ;p

Amazing chocolate mousse!

Great artwork all around the property

Day 2

So, I don't know if I need to rub in how nice and relaxing this place is... Every day! But I will do a little recap. :)
Day 2 began with a nice breakfast and of course Mexican hot cocoa and coffee (heaven). Then I worked out, put on my bathing suit and went to the beach. We snorkeled for an hour or more and checked out the fish and the reef around here. Pretty cool. Sean brought us some lunch from one of the buffets so we could stay on the beach and we had drinks constantly flowing... Water and other cocktails!

It was so hot that we felt as if we just could stay in the water forever! So we switched from the beach to the whirlpool area, which was so relaxing. We stayed in there for almost two hours!

Then we relaxed a bit more; I read in the hammock and enjoyed the view!

The best dinner we've had so far was at le petit couchon, the French restaurant. We will definitely go back. It was delicious! I was so full last night! We needed to walk it off a bit so made our way to the heaven bar and watched some karaoke with a live band. It was actually really good! A great second day!

First full day of relaxation

I never thought I would enjoy an all inclusive resort. I may have been incorrect. At least for right now, when I'm not super stir crazy, wow is all I have to say. I woke up early Monday morning, probably from excitement of being on vacation and the one hour time difference. I'm determined to exercise everyday here so I feel better about stuffing my face with yummy food and drinks. So Sean and I got dressed, went to breakfast, had a little bit to eat and some delicious Mexican chocolate coffee, and then went to the gym.
Then we had a second breakfast... Some eggs for protein :) when I say two breakfasts, my first one was a scoop of yogurt, some granola and fresh fruit. My second one was two eggs over easy!
What seems to be nice is that portion sizes here are small, so you can eat a variety of things and not feel too badly.
After two breakfasts and working out, we put on our bathing suits and my coverup, which could only be appropriate for a place like this, and ventured to the beach!

The beach was so nice and relaxing, the sun was strong, the water, perfect. We stayed there for a few hours and swam, read, talked and drank water and margaritas!

Eventually around 2:30, we wanted to head to the pool, so we left our beach spot and got into the pool. So nice too. There are people constantly doing things for the guests, so where we were was pictionary from the water. Later on was a song guessing hilarious game. Then we had some lunch overlooking the ocean... Paella.

The rough life continued back on the beach and then both Sean and I decided we needed shade, so we can back to the room, relaxed for a bit on the hammock and inside, and then got ready for dinner. We explored the other side of the resort tonight, the kids side, and had Japanese food for dinner, then went to peek in on a Mayan show. It was interesting though more for kids so we watched for a few and then came back to our side of the resort. The coolest thing today was a chocolate fountain in the lobby... So yummy. I was in heaven! :)

Hard Rock....

I've arrived in beautiful Cancun, though I did not see much of Cancun, as I whizzed through passport control and customs and found my ride in bright orange shirts outside of the airport. Although I didn't realize it at the time, I should have gone to delta baggage because I had no zipper pulls or locks left on my duffel and that means I have no way of closing my duffel anymore.... Joys of traveling! And really L.L.Bean, why are you making your duffels so cheaply these days?! This is the third duffel of theirs I'm going to have to return.

So, the Hard Rock Heaven on the Maya Riveria is pretty much exactly as its title suggests. We drove in to the guitar iconic symbol on the main entrance and then when we got to the drop off point, I was greeted by three bellman who took my broken duffel, gave me a delicious cucumber something blue drink in a champagne glass and I was escorted to check in. That was also a breeze though I don't remember much of it as my brain was exhausted already from lack of food and sleep. Sean, my friend who I'm meeting down here on the whim, met me in the lobby and we and the bellman with my bag (which I could have easily rolled myself) went to the room. Beautiful!! Overlooking the ocean, private balcony with a hammock and a jacuzzi!

Sean left me alone while I unpacked, ordered room service, ahh, amazing... It was my first time, and I took a shower and called delta. After a couple of hours, I was ready to explore.

The property is quite beautiful and there is a man made lagoon right next to the ocean with inlets for ocean water and fish to enter into the property, very cool. I will go snorkeling and swimming there! Then there are multiple pools, a million restaurants, food and bars and rock music and memoribilia every where. We decided to eat to the Mexican restaurant for the first night as the others were nicer places and I wanted low key so I could enjoy the others. It was delicious though! I hope I don't gain 20 pounds being here! Lol.

Mexico!!!

A spontaneous adventure begins. If you had asked me three days ago what I was doing next week, I would have replied, working and taking a fun day trip to Block Island. A few days ago, a friend texted me and said he was going to Mexico for a week in between ending one job and starting another and jokingly said, "want to come?!" I'm not sure he expected me to say yes, but I know he is super excited that I did. I've been trying to figure out something to do this summer as most of my plans fell through and this seemed like the perfect adventure to replace them. He booked everything through a travel agent and I don't usually do that but for this trip, I needed to use his agent to get everything set up. It took a day and on Friday when he left to fly, all my flights were set to go to leave on Sunday and meet him down there.

I am going to Mexico! And specifically the Mayan Riveria, for a relaxing and exploring vacation.

Because things were so last minute, of course the only seats I could get on my delta flights (I had to be very specific to fly delta as I'm so close to getting all the miles I need!!) were middle seats. That didn't even seem to put a damper on things as I was just so excited to get down there. However, when I got to LGA to check-in, this absolutely terrific agent took my duffel and when I asked about changing my seats, he said that ironically he was also the gate agent for my flight so he could get me a better seat once we got to the gate.
To make a long story short, he was able to upgrade me to economy comfort and to some nice aisle seats for both of my flights! He also gave me his information so he could look into my future flights. Sweet!
I flew into Minneapolis and had a tight connection but luckily and strangely, the same plane that I flew in on was the same plane going to Cancun, so that was very cool. Unfortunately it was an old Airbus plane, but still nice! I'm currently on that flight and cannot wait to arrive. I've been tortured by nice photos and private jacuzzi photos from Sean so I'm ready!

An Amazing Wedding

My family traveled to Carmel, California for a truly amazing wedding of a wonderful family friend.  Here are a few shots from the week long extravaganza and congrats to the happy couple! We were so glad we could be there for it.
